How to Play
Building your Team
There are 2 simple rules that you need to follow to build your team. Within those rules there are countless possibilities for you to demonstrate your superior tennis knowledge. First, you must select 8 players - no more, no less - from the player list on the left of the Entry page. Select a player by clicking the "select" button to the right of their name. Second, you only have $100k to spend on the 8 players. If you go over $100k, you will not be able to enter your team. If you have carefully crafted a team that meets these two criteria, a green "Enter Contest" button will appear at the bottom of the page. Clicking this button will enter your team into the competition!
How does the scoring work?
Scoring is incredibly simple! Players win "points" every time they win a point in their match.
In contests based on total points, a FanSlam™ player's team will get 1 point for every 1 point one of their players wins during a match. For example, if player wins 120 points during a match, a team with that player will get 120 points added to their total score. If that same player wins 100 points in his/her next match, an additional 100 points will be added to the team's total score.
Contests based on percentage of points are very similar. In these contests, the percentage of total points the player wins for the match will go towards a FanSlam™ team's total score. For example, if a player wins 120 out of the 200 points played in a match, that team will get 60 points (60%) for that match.
If a player withdraws, the advancing player will be awarded 50 points. The withdrawing player will receive 0 points.
Teams are ranked based on which team has the most points at the end of the tournament.
How do I know if I won?
FanSlam will send you an email with the contest results at the end of each contest.
Certain contests have prizes. To see the prize for a contest, click the link next to "Prize Money" under the name of the contest on the contest page.
Some contests are winner-take-all, meaning that the winner gets all the money in the pot. Other contests provide prize money for the top 3 finishers.Visit the contest page each day to track your team's progress. Teams are ranked based on the total number of points the accrue. At the end of the tournament, the teams with the most points win.
Teams that finish in the top 3 will also get a "FanSlam™ Trophy" in their "Trophy Case." The trophies are digital and meant to display to others your tennis expertise.
How are players priced?
Players are priced solely based on their world ranking relative to other participants in the tournament. The prices displayed are the same for each team owner. Each FanSlam™ team owner is left to make their own skillful judgment as to whether a specific player will perform well in a tournament and, therefore, whether they are "priced" too high or too low.
The player list is a list of all players entered into the tournament. Players are sorted by their current ATP or WTA world ranking. The higher ranked the player, the more costly it will be to add them to your team.
Can I change the players on my team?
Yes, before the first match of the tournament starts, you may edit your team by going to "My Teams," clicking on the contest you have entered into, and then clicking the "Edit Team" button at the bottom of the page.
To swap out a player, click the "remove" button to the right of their name. Then select a new player from the player's list on the left. Your revised team must still meet the rules of building a team (i.e. must have 8 players and be under $100k).
Can I withdraw from a competition? Will I be refunded?
Before the first match of the tournament begins, you may withdraw your team from the competition. You will be refunded your entry fee.
To withdraw your team, go to "My Teams," click on the contest you have entered into, and then click the "Withdraw Team" button at the bottom of the page.
